Connect or reconnect QuickBooks

Connecting happens inside the Receipt Rabbit iPhone app, not on this website. It takes about a minute, and you'll sign in with your own Intuit account — Receipt Rabbit never sees your QuickBooks password.

Before you start

Connecting for the first time

  1. Open Receipt Rabbit on your iPhone.
  2. Go to the Sync tab.
  3. Find QuickBooks and tap Connect.
  4. Sign in to Intuit in the secure window that appears, and choose the QuickBooks company you want to connect.
  5. Pick the default payment account — the account Receipt Rabbit uses when a receipt has no matching bank transaction. You can change this later.
  6. Wait a few seconds while your Receipt Rabbit categories are matched to your chart of accounts. When it finishes, you're connected.

Receipt Rabbit uses Intuit's standard OAuth sign-in. Your Intuit credentials are entered on Intuit's own page and are never seen or stored by Receipt Rabbit. The access it receives can be revoked by you at any time.

Reconnecting

You'll need to reconnect if you previously disconnected, if you revoked access from the Intuit side, or if you want to switch to a different QuickBooks company.

  1. Open Receipt Rabbit and go to the Sync tab.
  2. If QuickBooks still shows as connected, tap Disconnect first.
  3. Tap Connect and follow the same steps as above.

Reconnecting refreshes your category mapping against the chart of accounts as it exists now, so any new expense accounts you've added since are picked up.

If something goes wrong

The sign-in window closes without connecting

Check your internet connection and try again. If you have more than one Intuit account, make sure you signed in with the one that has access to the company you want.

"Reconnect" keeps appearing in the app

Access was revoked or expired on the Intuit side. Disconnect in Receipt Rabbit, then connect again.

Your expense accounts look wrong after connecting

Category mapping is a starting point, not a verdict. Open QuickBooks in the Sync tab to review the mapping and change any account that isn't where you want those expenses to land.
